On Wednesday 1 July 2026 at 18:00 the Utrecht SIG will meet outdoors at th
e Fort bij Rijnauwen in Bunnik for a walk\, talk and car boot book swap. T
his is becoming an annual tradition! The AGM book swap had a limited offer
ing as most people came by train. I'm sure many of us still have way too m
any books we're not likely to read again. Now is the time to sift through
your shelves and load your books in your bike pannier or the boot of your
car. Please remember to take back any books you bring that haven’t found a
new reader.\nSome of you may remember the Theehuis Rhijnauwen\, which ser
ves delicious pancakes and can also do gluten- and/or dairy-free pancakes\
, with lots of fillings\, and they also have sandwiches/salads\, lots of v
eg/vegan options\, so there’s something for everyone. Note: pay for your o
wn food and drink.\nDepending on the weather we can take our chances with
eating outside. They don’t take reservations for the terrace. If necessary
\, reservations for eating indoors can be made nearer the time.\nProgramme
 :18:00 – 18:30: hang around the car park for swapping books18:30 – 20:30:
take a walk or head straight for the pancakes20:30 – 21:00: more walking\,

DESCRIPTION:{show accesslevels='Registered'}You are cordially invited to a
Special General Meeting (SGM)\, at which we will be voting on whether SENS
E should endorse the updated Convenant Vertaalsector Nederland (informally
\, the Dutch Covenant).\nMore information about the updated Dutch Covenant
is available on the SENSE website in the Library > Society Business > Gen
eral Meetings > Special General Meetings > SGM 19 September 2026. Alternat
ively\, SENSE members can click here (Dutch-language version)\, here (SENS
E's official English translation)\, and here (explanation of what has been
changed).\nWhere and when\nThe SGM will be a hybrid meeting (i.e. partial
ly online via Zoom) on Saturday 19 September 2026 at 16:00. The physical m
eeting location is in Apeldoorn. If you'd like to attend the SGM in person
\, please email the Secretary for the address.\nMembers can also vote via
email from Thursday 20 August to Thursday 10 September 2026. The voting ba
llot will be emailed to you on 20 August.\nSince email voting is possible
prior to the meeting\, there will be no option to vote by proxy at this SG
M.\nFor a detailed explanation of email voting and hybrid meetings\, click
here.\nRationale\nThe Convenant Vertaalsector Nederland (informally\, the
Dutch Covenant) outlines the generally accepted rules of conduct that fre
elance translators and translation agencies in the Netherlands consider go
od practice in their dealings with each other. It gives freelance translat
ors in the Netherlands a better idea of what translation agencies in the N
etherlands may expect of them\, and vice versa. This knowledge can be part
icularly useful for newcomers to the industry.\nThe Covenant is reviewed e
very three years to keep it current and up-to-date with the latest develop
ments in the translation industry.\nOver the past couple of months\, repre
sentatives from SENSE\, the Netherlands Association of Interpreters and Tr
anslators (NGTV) and the Netherlands Association of Interpreting and Trans
lation Agencies (VViN) re-examined the Dutch Covenant in response to comme
nts from their individual members\, and to ensure compliance with Dutch le
gislation.\nSENSE endorsed the previous version of the Covenant\, and the
EC recommends that members vote to endorse the updated version of the Cove
nant as well.\n{show-else}\n\n\n\nIf you are a SENSE member\, please log i

s holding a Special General Meeting (SGM) on 19 September 2026\, where mem
bers will vote on whether SENSE should endorse the updated Convenant Verta
alsector Nederland (informally\, the Dutch Covenant).\nThe SGM will be a h

end the meeting. Members can also vote via email. The voting ballot will b
e emailed to SENSE members.\nFor more information about the first edition
of the Dutch Covenant\, see here. SENSE members who are logged in can also
see the updated version of the Dutch Covenant in its original Dutch versi
on and SENSE's official English translation.\nThe Convenant Vertaalsector
Nederland (informally\, the Dutch Covenant) outlines the generally accepte
d rules of conduct that freelance translators and translation agencies in
the Netherlands consider good practice in their dealings with each other.
It gives freelance translators in the Netherlands a better idea of what tr
anslation agencies in the Netherlands may expect of them\, and vice versa.
This knowledge can be particularly useful for newcomers to the industry.
\nThe Covenant is reviewed every three years to keep it current and up-to-
date with the latest developments in the translation industry.{/show} http
