\nSue Leschen\, United Kingdom\nBy putting in place a set of terms and con
ditions\, language professionals can add an essential skill to their toolk
it. Most of us don't come from a business background\, but linguistic skil
ls alone are not enough in today's challenging marketplace.\nWith this in
mind\, during my workshop we’ll explore how to approach and resolve the cu
rrent imbalance in the marketplace\, where\, typically\, the client's term
s and conditions have always dominated.\n The workshop will focus on the a
rt of negotiating terms and conditions – the do's and the don'ts – how to
negotiate to our best advantage\, to give something but also to get someth
ing in return.\nThe session will teach freelancers how to build a set of t
erms either from scratch or by adapting those of our professional organisa
tions which freelancers can use over and over again and adapt as necessary
to all sorts of jobs.\nThe workshop will be as interactive as possible\,
with participants bringing their own experience and queries to our session
