DESCRIPTION:UniSIG meeting with Maria Sherwood-Smith\nFriday\, 11 January 2
 019Time: 14:30 – 17.00 (doors open at 14:00) Please note earlier starting
time!Location: Park Plaza Hotel\, Utrecht (a short walk from Utrecht Centr
al Station)\n\n\nIn this meeting\, we'll consider genres (i.e. text types)
other than research articles (RAs) that our clients in academia use. To g
et us thinking about the challenges these genres pose to our clients and t
o us as English-language professionals\, in the first part of the meeting
SENSE member Maria Sherwood-Smith will repeat the presentation she gave in
June 2018 at the SENSE conference\, titled “Outreach and research communi
cation in English: Opportunities for language professionals”. Her full con
ference abstract is available here (scroll down to Sunday 10 June\, 11.20-
12.00). In the second part of the meeting\, we’ll discuss non-RA assignmen
ts we’ve dealt with.  \nThe earlier start means that as well as the option
of adjourning to the bar for drinks\, socializing and networking after th
e meeting\, there will also be the option of staying on for a meal. Decide
on the day but remember that drinks and the meal will both be at your exp
ense.\nAs ever\, all SENSE members are welcome.\nTo register for this meet
ing\, please click on the button at the top of this page.\nJoy Burrough-Bo
