Data protection laws affect us all. But what do you need to do to comply, and how can you get started? Is compliance with the GDPR really possible? And what does all this mean for translators, interpreters and other wordsmiths?

Steven Segaert will give a short talk and there’ll be plenty of time for discussion about GDPR matters for language professionals.

Steven Segaert, an English-to-Dutch translator, faced the same questions. And because he thought it could be smart marketing towards clients, he decided to get to the bottom of GDPR. After too many trips through too many rabbit holes, he felt he had spent enough hours on the subject to have a pretty good idea what it's all about.

So, whether you haven't really done anything yet, or would like to make a fresh start, Steven will help you on your way. During the Tech SIG meeting Steven will talk briefly about why data protection is a good idea and what you can do to be compliant. After this brief talk, there will be plenty of time for questions.
