UniSIG - Academic writing support for PhD candidates and staff at University of Twente

From 25 June 2021 14:00 CEST until 25 June 2021 15:00 CEST
Hits: 1099

Our speaker for the June UniSIG meeting is Jacqueline Evans, a SENSE member with a background in dentistry and veterinary dentistry, UK government research and teaching English. Since 2017, she’s been employed as an academic English lecturer and skills coach at the University Twente, where for half the time she lectures, coaches and trains PhD candidates to communicate well using academic English and the other half of her time, she gives editorial feedback on theses, articles, presentations and book chapters for UT PhD researchers and staff.

Jacqueline will describe her role as an academic writing coach and the types of editing and proofreading that arrive on her desk. She will also touch on the fine balance between encouraging researchers to improve their writing skills with her editorial feedback versus the provision of editing, proofreading and polishing services.

After her short talk there will be time for Q&A and general discussion. As always, all SENSE members are welcome to attend this meeting, which will last about one hour. You can register here.

Registration will close at 09.00h on 24 June and registered participants will be emailed the Zoom link to the meeting. If you haven't received the link by the morning of 25 June and it hasn't ended up in your spam file, please email me and I'll resend the link to you personally.

Contact me if you wish to use attendance at this meeting to add to your PE points.
