3 October 2015: SIG for Educators meeting

Topic:“Six approaches to teaching and learning English grammar”. Talk by Marcel Lemmens of Teamwork

To all educators and others interested in this subject,

At the next meeting of the SENSE Ed SIG for educators, Marcel Lemmens of Teamwork will give a talk on grammar: “Six approaches to teaching and learning English grammar”.

If you are planning to attend, please send an email now to iris.maher@gmail.com to let me know. All SENSE members with an interest in education are invited to attend.

The meeting will take place on 3 October from 1:30 to 5 pm at the Park Plaza Hotel in Utrecht (doors open at 1 pm for coffee/tea).

More info on the meeting:

Learning grammar is an uphill struggle for secondary school students, because they find it too abstract (and boring). It is frustrating for teachers, because they see that their students score well on grammar exercises but find it difficult to transfer theory to practice. So, should English grammar not be approached differently? Marcel will present several approaches, some of them old, some of them new. There will also be a few short exercises and plenty of time for discussion.

We also expect to find some time to discuss other topics of interest, both new and old.

Kind regards,

Iris Maher
