It's been three years since the Dutch Covenant was published, and it's time to update it, to take into account the latest developments in the translation world.
The Dutch Covenant is a set of best practices for translators who regularly work for agencies. The Covenant is a useful guide for new and established translators who are wondering what is normal and commonly accepted when working with agencies.
The 2022 version of the Covenant was drawn up by representatives of four associations, namely the VViN (Netherlands Association of Interpreting and Translation Agencies), the NGTV (Netherlands Association of Interpreters and Translators), the VZV (Dutch Freelance Translators’ Association) and SENSE (the Society of English-language professionals in the Netherlands).
SENSE, the NGTV and the VViN are currently holding talks to revise the Covenant and make it up to date. But we need everybody's input.
Please download SENSE's English translation of the Dutch Covenant here, read it, and let us know what you think: e.g. which elements of it do you not agree with, which items are no longer considered relevant, and which sections should be expanded.
