In this session we’ll look at current AI practices in the translation business. How is it changing the role of the professional? And what does that mean for you? We will also share some of the teaching practices at the Capabel Translation course, which aims to prepare our students for this brave new world of translation.
About the presenters:
Maleen Hof was a freelance translator of English into Dutch for 20 years, working from both the UK and the Netherlands. In 2017 she started at Capabel Hogeschool (back then known as ITV Hogeschool) as a lecturer in translation. For the past 5 years, she has worked as the Head of Professionalism for the bachelor programme for translators and interpreters. She can’t wait to share her experience from the work field with the members of SENSE.

Paulina Vanderbilt was a secondary teacher of English for 20+ years in both the UK and the Netherlands. She also worked as a teacher trainer at Amsterdam University. She is a storyteller, writer and advisor on anything reading and writing. Currently, she is one of the authors working on a new textbook on English for secondary pupils. At Capabel she teaches grammar, linguistic agility and cultural awareness. She is excited to share her ideas for and love of English in an AI-driven world.

Join SENSE on 31 October in Ede for a full day of networking, discussions and presentations designed to help further your career.
Doors open at 09:30. The programme starts at 10:00 and ends at 17:00, followed by drinks and snacks. A buffet lunch is served at 12:30, and there are networking breaks at 11:00 and 15:00.
Those who wish to continue networking after the borrel can join us for dinner (dinner not included in the event fee).
