What do you do when you’re faced with a decision? Do you come up with possible options and then choose between them using any sort of system, whether it’s a pro and con list, a cost benefit analysis, a complicated Excel sheet or just flipping a coin and seeing if you like the answer? Does this work? Do you feel like you’re finding the option that really meets your needs? Or do you often go in circles and end up choosing something based on your gut?
There is another way. One that will help you figure out what alternatives there really are, and how to choose the one that comes closest to what you want. I learned about it in grad school and have applied it to many decisions since, and I’ll share it with you during the presentation.
About the presenter: Harmony works as a freelance writer, editor, consultant and teacher in Utrecht. She moved here from Canada 19 years ago, six months pregnant with the first of her two children. Her experience before that includes planting trees in the mountains of her home province of British Columbia, teaching English in South Korea and working as a policy analyst on local government issues in BC. She has a BA in Psychology and History of Science from Yale and a MA in Community and Regional Planning from UBC. This presentation is based on a decision-making tool that she learned about during her MA and has applied to a wide variety of problems since then.

Doors open at 09:30. The programme starts at 10:00 and ends at 17:00, followed by drinks and snacks. A buffet lunch is served at 12:30, and there are networking breaks at 11:00 and 15:00.
