What is a "Zoom online meeting"?
When the location of an event is "Zoom online meeting", it means that the event does not take place at a physical location, but is held virtually, i.e. using the videoconferencing service "Zoom".
To use Zoom, you need at least a computer or a smartphone, and an internet connection. Ideally, you should have a microphone, so that you can talk to other participants. If you have a webcam, other participants may be able to see your face. You will be able to hear other participants and see their faces or their names even if you do not have a microphone and/or webcam yourself.
The best way to use Zoom is using the Zoom app, application or program, which can be downloaded from your device's app store or from https://zoom.us/download (select "Client for Meetings"). You can also use Zoom via a web browser, but then certain features will be limited. It is not required to have a Zoom account in order to use Zoom, but signing up for a free Zoom account does allow you to customize certain additional settings.
If you have registered for an event, the event coordinator will send a Zoom link (URL) to you via e-mail before the start of the event.
If you have never used Zoom before, please set up your device in advance and get assistance from friends or colleagues beforehand, because we are unlikely to be able to support participants with technical issues during the event itself, particularly for events with many participants.
